Today the Cleveland Indians traded for Kenny Lofton of the Texas Rangers. Lofton this going into today’s game is batting .303 with 7 HRs, 23 RBIs, and 21 SBs. In return for Lofton the Texas Rangers acquired minor league C Max Rodriguez. The Indians acquired Rodriguez from the Atlanta Braves last offseason for Bob Wickman.
This is Loftons 3rd stint with Cleveland playing for them in 1991-1996, then 1998-2001. Tonight in his first plate appeareance as an Indian in 6 years, he got a standing ovation. So far he is 2-4 in the game with a RBI and a SO. The Indians are hoping that Lofton can help them make it to the world Series and hopefully win the World Series.
