With The First Pick…………

The Oakland Raiders select Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU. No surprise here, Oakland takes the 6’6″ 258 pounder out of LSU. Oakland’s quarterback of choice last year , Andrew Walter, threw thirteen picks, tallied thirteen fumbles, and went 2-14 as a starter last year. Just a glance at Walter’s stat line, and it’s easy to see why the Raiders go with a QB at number one. While the pros are a notch above college, Russell’s numbers at LSU are still impressive. Russell racked up 3129 yards in 06-07, completing 67.8 percent of his passes.
The man some believed would be picked at number two, Brady Quinn, has yet to be chosen through twelve picks. When Quinn was still waiting in the Green Room after the first eight picks, it was almost a forgone conclusion he would be picked by the Miami Dolphins. But the crowd erupted as the commissioner announced that the Dolphins had selected Ted Ginn Jr., WR, OSU.
